The rules that drive the cost in Colombia
- Prestaciones: a service bonus (prima) of one month a year, cesantías of one month a year and 12% annual interest on cesantías.
- Social security: pension 12%, health 8.5%, work-risk insurance (ARL) from 0.522%, family compensation fund 4%, ICBF 3% and SENA 2%. Health, ICBF and SENA apply to salaries above 10 minimum wages, which covers most engineering salaries.
- Salario integral: salaries above 13 minimum wages can fold prestaciones into a single salary, with contributions on 70% of it. This usually lowers total cost.
- Dismissal without cause: 30 days of salary for the first year and 20 days for each additional year on salaries above 10 minimum wages.

Compare other countries
The model applies each country's statutory employer rules to a gross monthly salary in USD. Caps in local currency are converted at approximate October 2026 exchange rates. Customary benefits (private health plans, meal cards) are typical market values, not legal requirements. Profit sharing in Mexico (PTU) is excluded because it depends on the employer's taxable profit. These are budgeting estimates, not legal, tax or payroll advice.
